About Our Macadamia Farm

Based in Nimbin, New South Wales our aim is to bring you the cleanest Macadamia nuts that can be grown. Our small-scale farm is half planted with around 1000 Macadamia trees and the other half is natural rain forest.

We do not believe in spraying, instead we try to support the beneficial insects who help keep the rest in control. We feed the soil with natural composts and minerals to balance the losses from each years crops.

Nothing artificial or industrial chemical based is used on the property. Our lifestyle follows the same theme, we eat clean and organic as much as possible. So naturally our farming methods follow suit.

Macadamia Orchard

Why we started

In early 2018 health issues pushed us on a journey to discover a better way of eating and living.

We cleaned up our diet to exclude any processed foods, dairy & grains. This led us to discover the amount of chemicals that are used in growing conventional food.

The following year we left Victoria on a family holiday to Northern New South Wales and in as little as three weeks we fell in love with the area and decided to make a move to match our new lifestyle.

Macadamias are one of the most nutritious and tasty nuts (and happen to be our favourite) so it seemed fitting to search for a Macadamia farm to purchase and run as organic ourselves.

Acquiring the farm

Our search led us to discover that not any farm could be converted to organic and be successful, so we visited an existing ACO certified farm in Nimbin that was for sale.

The farm was full of character, so much more so than the other flat farms we looked at previously. Surrounded by rain forest and wildlife we immediately wanted to make this our new home!

We took over at the end of the next season in August 2020 and that’s when our work started.

We were blind to the rate at which the grass grows in the subtropics. Not to mention the workload that is required to manage a farm without chemicals for weed control.

Selling our nuts

We got straight into cleaning up the orchard and mowing the many acres of grass in order to get ready for the pending harvest season that would soon begin in March 2021.

But in late February we received a notice that the processor who had previously purchased our ACO certified nuts were no longer buying organic.

This led us down the road of looking into retailing our produce ourselves and became the reason that Nimbin Organic Macadamia Nuts was born.

We decided that this was a better way for us to share our delicious organic Macadamia nuts with more people all around Australia. So here we are! Check out our online shop.
